It’s official—DinoLand U.S.A. is going extinct. Disney has confirmed that the land, along with its signature DINOSAUR attraction, will close permanently on February 2, 2026, with the final day of operation being February 1, 2026.
What’s Closing
On that date, the following will shut their doors for good:
- DINOSAUR ride
- Restaurantosaurus and Restaurantosaurus Lounge
- The Dino Institute Shop
- The rest of DinoLand U.S.A.
This marks the official end of a land that has been part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom since the park opened in 1998.
Closures Already Underway
Some parts of DinoLand have already disappeared:
- The Boneyard playground closed permanently on September 1, 2025, with construction walls now in place.
- Back in late 2024, Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, including TriceraTop Spin and the Dinosaur Treasures gift shop, also closed.
The land has slowly been shutting down piece by piece, leading to this final closure date.
What’s Next: Tropical Americas
While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, something exciting is coming. Disney is reimagining the area as the Tropical Americas, expected to debut in 2027. Here’s what we can look forward to:
- A new Indiana Jones–themed attraction, which makes sense since DINOSAUR was originally built with the same ride system as Disneyland’s Indiana Jones Adventure.
- The first Encanto attraction at Walt Disney World.
- A whimsical carousel of Disney animal characters.
- A playground and a new village called Pueblo Esperanza that will bring the land to life.
The End of an Era
DinoLand U.S.A. has had its share of fans and critics, but it’s been a staple of Animal Kingdom for nearly three decades. With its closure, we’re not just saying goodbye to a ride or a restaurant, but to an entire chapter of Disney history.
If you’re planning a trip before early 2026, this is your last chance to take a spin on DINOSAUR, grab a bite at Restaurantosaurus, and walk through DinoLand one final time before the new Tropical Americas expansion takes over
