Disney’s Hollywood Studios is introducing a refreshed Animation Academy experience called “Olaf Draws!” and it brings a fun new twist to the park’s celebration of animation. This updated version of The Magic of Disney Animation puts Olaf front and center as the host of the experience.
Guests will be welcomed by a brand-new Audio-Animatronics Olaf inside a creative studio space inspired by a moment from Once Upon a Studio. The setting is designed to feel like a real animation workspace, making visitors feel as though they’ve stepped inside Disney’s creative process.
The main highlight is the drawing class, where guests of all ages can learn how to sketch beloved Disney characters. Younger artists have specially designed tables, while older guests can sit at animator-style desks. Although Olaf jokes that he isn’t very good at drawing, the lessons are actually guided step-by-step by Disney Animation artists through pre-recorded segments. Josh Gad also recorded new dialogue, adding humor and encouragement throughout the experience.
Each session focuses on a different character, such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Genie, Moana, Stitch, Ursula, and Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps. The lessons are connected to the animators and directors who helped bring these characters to life, giving guests a deeper appreciation for the artistry behind the films.
Beyond the drawing classes, visitors can explore an enchanted gallery where artwork appears to magically animate before their eyes. There will also be a chance to watch the Once Upon a Studio short film in a theater enhanced with immersive effects.
Set to open in late summer 2026 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this updated experience is designed to inspire creativity and give families a hands-on way to connect with the magic of Disney animation together.
